Meet our Founder

My name is Sha'Da Taylor

My name is Sha'Da Taylor, I am a homeschool mom of three, wife of a pastor and entrepreneur, co-pastor, fitness and nutrition coach, and the proud founder of TRIUMPH Microschool.  We started our homeschool journey in 2019 with an online public school and loved the freedom and flexibility that it provided.  However, after three years of online public school, we decided that we wanted to provide a more Christ-focused and unplugged education that required us to become independent homeschoolers.  This freedom opened up a world of possibilities, joy, excitement and a newfound love of learning.  This provoked our desire to bring our homeschool experience to our church and our community as we saw the interest for homeschooling spread.  From that, TRIUMPH was born in 2024.

Story

Get to Know Us

TRIUMPH, launched in the fall of 2024 with five families consisting of 14 students from grades K-9.  Most of our families served in and attended the same church, and were either already homeschooling or planning to homeschool.  Our goal was to meet at our church out of convenience, however, due to the re-location of our church we initially launched in a family member's home, then moved to a library, and an events hall until we finally received 2 classroom spaces in our church's new home Canton, Ohio.  We now had a place to get settled complete with a kitchen, cafeteria, a game room, outdoor access for the children, and ample parking.  The generosity, love and support from our church contributed greatly to the success of our first year and we look forward to making each year triumphant.

So, what is a Microschool?

If you do a quick google search you will find that a microschool is a small, flexible learning environment with small class sizes and a student-centered approach. Microschools can be public, private, or charter schools, or they can operate independently.

Historically, microschools operated as what we would have known as a one-room schoolhouse during the late 1800 - early 1900 where one teacher taught multiple ages and grades in one room.  The benefits of this style of education were individualized education, siblings were in the same school, community style learning, shared resources, and a focus on life skills and educational needs.

One teacher schoolhouses began to lose their popularity due to urbanization, standardization and the professionalization of education. The COVID-19 Pandemic brought budding interest to the one teacher schoolhouses which had become known modernly as microschools.  With so much uncertainty, parents began looking into homeschooling options for their public schooled kids while many homeschooled parents began looking for communities for their kids.  Microschools meets the needs of parents wanting a more focused, community-style education for their kids that operate in small classes where kids can get individualized attention.  Microschools also are beneficial for kids who struggle in school due to health problems and attention disorders because the learning environment can be tailored for their specific needs.

Microschools are essentially homeschooling families coming together to share resources and build community in a safe, eclectic, and customized student-focused environment.  The curriculum varies widely between curated lessons, online programs and certified curriculums that meets the educational needs that the parents desire for their kids.  Microschools has the unique potential to give students a joy of learning, real world life skills, entrepreneurship opportunities, time management skills, independent learning without lacking in social or emotional skills, and keeping up with current events.
